Donald Lee Taylor embarked on his federal law enforcement career in 1987 as a Special Agent for the United States Treasury Department – Internal Revenue Criminal Investigation Division in Atlantic City New Jersey.  In 1991, Mr. Taylor graduated from the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia as a Special Agent assigned to the Newark, New Jersey FBI Division field office where he worked on several squads and multiple investigations such as kidnapping, wire and bank fraud, drugs, organized crime, money laundering, espionage, political corruption and both World Trade Center bombings. He is credited for initiating and successfully investigating one of the Bureau’s first Foreign Corrupt Practice Act cases, borne from a failed bank – wherein he tracked 18 million dollars through 11 different countries which led him from the U.S. to Turkmenistan, Southern Russia, as an advisor to that government. Also during that same time, Mr. Taylor served on the Newark FBI SWAT Team for 8 years, 6 of which he was a Sniper/Observer. As a former IRS Criminal Investigator, he was requested and detailed for eighteen months in Washington, D.C. as a member of the congressionally-mandated Webster Commission which reviewed and restructured the entire IRS Criminal Investigation organization. In 2002, Mr. Taylor was promoted to FBI Headquarters in Washington as a legacy Supervisory Special Agent assigned to the Counterterrorism Division, National Joint Terrorism Task Force where he coordinated over 56 government agencies on post-911 matters and investigations. In 2005, he served in the Director’s Office until he retired in December 2007. Upon his retirement from the Bureau, Mr. Taylor founded his own security consulting company, Sierra1 Security Issues Consulting. Concurrently, Mr. Taylor returned to FBI Headquarters as a consultant/contractor assigned to the Directorate of Intelligence for Counterterrorism as well as providing budgetary oversight to the Directorate of Weapons of Mass Destruction at FBIHQ.
